Ash Wednesday

Ash Wednesday is a day in the Christian calendar denoting the first day of Lent, a six-week period (40 days leading up to Easter) during which Christians often give up something that they normally eat, drink or take part in.

The practices of Ash Wednesday, such as the placing of ashes on the foreheads of people, go back centuries. Today Father David lead worship and spoke about Ash Wednesday then proceeded to place a cross on the forehead of those children who chose to take part. Assisted by Mrs Oshun, Mrs Moore and Mrs Histed
