Meet Our Governors
Chair of Governors - Mrs Elizabeth Watton (Foundation Governor)
My name is Elizabeth Watton. I have been a foundation governor for over 8 years and chair for 2 years. I am on the resources committee and chair the Standards and Curriculum committee.
My daughter was in Year 6 at MEPS and has just started Dene Magna in Year 7. My sons came here and they are now at Dene Magna and Dene Magna 6th form.
I am very proud to be a part of the Governing body and the whole school team.
Vice Chair Mrs Leanne Fisher - Foundation Governor
Both of my children have attended MEPS and I am the current chair of FOMS and arrange many fundraising events for the children to enjoy and to benefit the school.
My day job is with Gloucestershire County Council where I work closely with Children's Social Care in a performance and improvement role.
I look forward to continuing to support and work with the leadership team, staff and governing body at MEPS.
Father David Gill (Ex-Officio Governor)
I am the parish priest in Mitcheldean and Abenhall and am an exofficio foundation governor.
Mrs Peta Moffat - Foundation Governor
As a member of St Michael and All Angel's church in Mitcheldean, I welcome this lovely opportunity to be part of the school community. I have worked in secondary school teaching all my life - mainly in Mathematics but also in Physics and occasionally in Dance.
For the past 20 years I have been a consultant partner to a rural Secondary in the Serengeti Region, Tanzania and am now learning Swahili as part of my stewardship with the Gloucester Diocese Tanzanian Committee.
Mrs Sue Fowler - LEA Governor
I am the local education authority governor and in the past have also been the staff representative on the governing body. I have teaching experience in key stage 1 and key stage 2 and have been a member of the senior leadership team and also the keys stage 1 lead teacher. Having recently retired I am now enjoying going into school on a voluntary basis and supporting children with their learning. It is a privilege to be a member of the Mitcheldean team.
Mrs Gina Etter - Foundation Governor
I have been a governor at Mitcheldean Endowed Primary School for over 12 years. I am responsible for the Health & Safety audit and am the Early Years Liaison. I work at Mitcheldean Early Learners Pre-School, situated on the school grounds, as the Early Years Manager.
Mrs Rebecca Turner- Parent Governor
My first son joined the school in September 2021 and with two younger sons to follow in his footsteps, I knew I wanted to become part of the school community.
I am also an active member of the Parent Teacher Association (FOMS) and enjoy volunteering at events to benefit the children and school.
Becky
Mary Dunning - foundation governor
My working life began as a computer programmer, and in more recent years I have been a Learning Support teacher in a school in London. Most of my time was spent in Key Stage 2 classes, supporting children’s learning in Maths, Science and languages.
Since retiring to Mitcheldean, I worship at St. Mary’s in Newent, where my husband is about to be a curate. I volunteer in our village library and in the local hospice charity shop. I very much look forward to getting to know the whole MEPS community, and supporting the learning that goes on there.
Mrs Jennie Connor - staff governor
I am pleased to represent all of the staff of Mitcheldean Endowed Primary School as the teacher governor. I have over twenty years teaching experience in a range of settings in Oxfordshire and the Forest of Dean. I have led various subjects through my time teaching and am currently Art Lead for MEPs.
Mrs Claire Smith - parent governor
Both my children attend MEPS, my daughter is currently in Year 3 and my son started Reception last September. I have been a supportive member of FOMS for four years.
I work for a locally based, large insurance company as a Compliance Manager. My team and I are responsible for oversight of corporate policy and process controls for UK and Europe.
I am delighted to join the school Governing body as Parent Governor and look forward to working with the leadership team, staff and other governors to ensure that MEPS continues to be an environment for children to learn and strive.
